Reproducibility of phase-contrast MRI in the coronary artery: towards noninvasive pressure gradient measurement and quantification of fractional flow reserve
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) is an invasively determined index of the functional severity of an intermediate coronary stenosis by measuring the pressure drop across the lesion [1]. Noninvasive pressure gradient (ΔP) measurements using phase-contrast (PC)-MRI have been attempted in the aorta, carotid, and renal arteries [2-4]. The purpose of this study is to assess the reproducibility of PC-MRI and noninvasive ΔP calculations in the coronary artery, which is relevant for establishing the robustness of the noninvasive FFR technique.

Pressure gradient measurement in the coronary artery using 4D PC-MRI: towards noninvasive quantification of fractional flow reserve
Background Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is an invasive procedure evaluating the functional significance of an intermediate stenosis by measurement of pressure drop across stenosis [1]. Noninvasive pressure measurement technique i.e. Phase-contrast (PC)-MRI has been studied in the cardiac chamber[2], aorta[3], and renal[4] arteries. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility o...
متن کاملPressure gradient measurement using phase contrast (PC)-MRI in stenotic phantom models: Towards noninvasive quantification of fractional flow reserve in the coronary arteries
Background Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is an invasive diagnostic tool to evaluate the functional significance of an intermediate coronary stenosis by quantifying the pressure gradient (ΔP) across that stenosis [1]. Noninvasive ΔP measurement (ΔPMR) using phase-contrast (PC)-MRI in conjunction with Navier-Stokes (NS) equations has been attempted in large to medium size vessels [2-4], and recen...
متن کاملPressure gradient measurement in the coronary artery using phase contrast (PC)-MRI: initial patient results towards noninvasive quantification of fractional flow reserve
Background Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is an invasive procedure evaluating the functional significance of an intermediate coronary stenosis in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) [1]. Quantification of pressure gradient (ΔP) across a particular stenosis is the key to the determination of FFR. Noninvasive ΔP measurement (ΔPMR) using phase-contrast (PC)-MRI in conjunction with NavierSto...
متن کاملارتباط TFC) TIMI Frame Count) با کسر ذخیره جریانی (FFR) در بیماران مبتلا به تنگی متوسط عروق کرونر که تحت آنژیوگرافی کرونر قرار میگیرند
Background and Objective: Thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) frame count (TFC) is an objective and quantitative index of coronary flow, and myocardial fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a lesion-specific index for epicardial coronary stenosis. Currently, FFR is the most valid tool for decision making in coronary interventions. However, it incurs relatively high costs and it is not reimb...
متن کاملComputed Fractional Flow Reserve (FFTCT) Derived from Coronary CT Angiography
Recent advances in image-based modeling and computational fluid dynamics permit the calculation of coronary artery pressure and flow from typically acquired coronary computed tomography (CT) scans. Computed fractional flow reserve is the ratio of mean coronary artery pressure divided by mean aortic pressure under conditions of simulated maximal coronary hyperemia, thus providing a noninvasive e...
